Remember the Part...

About you coming on a ride with us?

I had to post this because there is no other way to get a sense for the feeling of riding down bumpy roads in a rickshaw. We're about to heard out for the day to the slums of Calcutta, and I will be back to tell you all about it later, but for now, check out Keely's video from yesterday.

(And ladies, just a heads up. If you ever do this, make sure you have, ahem, proper undergarments:) )

It was crazy!!!!! Enjoy :)

And thanks so much for all of your kind words and encouragement-you have NO idea how much your comments give me strength.

Okay, ready? Jump on board!!!! (thanks for the video, Keely-you are a BRAVE woman!)

See you soon~
Ang

My hubby has many stories of rickshaws but thanks for the video I understand what he's talking about.
Scott told me that once they got stuck on top of a BUS in INdia. They were loading their luggage and the bus took off!!!
Lots of prayer...

good morning! rickshaws are very similar to african "taxis," also called dala dalas. :) praying for you! have fun.

Looks like this should be a ride an at amusement park!

Seriously, I tried to watch this on Pete's blog earlier and I had to stop cuz I got sick.

No lie.

Could have been the migraine hangover, too, but MAN that's shaky!!! If I were you, I'd be more afraid of the rickshaw than of a little turbulence on a plane!

JD said...

Thank you for allowing us to ride along with you on this infinite adventure!

Ruthie said...

That was so fun to see! I loved the music!!! I grew up as a missionary kid in Zaire, Africa, and this more rural part of India is reminding me of my childhood, and riding taxi cabs in Africa. What a wild ride. As your day is starting, and mine is ending, I am praying for you!

I got dizzy just watching that!

Oh the rickshaw rides! I remember them well. Did you feel like you were breathing the fumes? I thought my lungs were going to explode! What an unbelieveable journey our God is taking you on. I pray you enjoy every minute you are there and truly take it all in. Love to you, my friend!

I started feeling sick just watching! Ha ha!

Megan said...

That music totally jams! Makes you feel like you're there!

that would require more kegels than I think I could handle ... what a great ride and experience! god is doing great things through and with you. no doubt.

Megan said...

Wow...!

I don't comment much, but I wanted to let you know that I read every post and I've been praying for you & your sweet family. Your comment about it being easier to ignore the water than to dip your toe in resonated very, very much with me, especially since I'm usually pretty torn between hearing about these conditions and feeling entirely helpless. If you know of something a poor almost-college student can do to help, would you let me know? :)

Thanks for sharing your journey!

Thank you so much for sharing this journey with us. Giving me a lot to think about right now.

Loved the music on the video. Looks like quite the wild ride.

God bless you and the others for making this journey.

That is crazy! I'm sort of leaning towards Gitz's response...it was a little tough to watch! You poor girls!

Thank you, though, for sharing that. I will be honest and say that I wished I could've seen a little bit more of YOU, but...maybe another video can be made! I've loved ALL of the pictures and your incredible stories, so far!

Love you TONS, Ang. PRAYING

Wow! What a ride!! Everybody sounded like they were talking into a fan. lol I think I feel sorry for any "large-breasted" woman who rides one of those. Geeez! The music was a very nice touch. I enjoyed that!

PS I don't know if you can get more beautiful. I looked through the photos from yesterday on flickr and wow! They are amazing of each of you - but you seriously just radiate His light at the moment! Truly beautiful to see! The BBB lambs are wonderful. So glad you got to meet Tina before taking them to the children. I love it!!! God is good all of the time!

In all seriousness now, Angie, you are an amazing woman and it will be a great day when you get to heaven. I know our Father will be telling you "job well done my good and faithful child"

Angie, I just got done reading about your trip to India thus far. The pictures, the vibrant colors, the encounters, the hope and change in the midst of loss are all so beautiful.

My husband and I have the privilege of partnering with an organization that does orphan care in Cambodia currently and I am touched by your experiences, both because they remind me of some of my own, and because it is so encouraging to see the hope of Christ touching so many parts of our world!! God bless :)

To quote my favorite, Tigger, "I'm getting see sick from seeing too much!"

What a wild ride, Ang! They have a similar vehicle in the Philippines called a tricycle. Fun to ride in once. But how the locals get 8 people in them and still move down the road, I'll never understand!

Hope you were wearing appropriate under garments!

My Compassion child is from the Philippines , and he has in my heart and part of my family for 2 and half years now. It is *so * wonderful to see how well organized and committed these people are. My dream is to one day meet my "son" and share a hug . Until then, letters and precious pictures will have to do.

Thank you for sharing your journey with us. You are very brave . I hope God continues to bless your life & your journey with hope and continued faith.

You will certainly come home a different person than when you left!

I hope you get to try riding on TOP of a bus! We did that in the Phillipines, and when it got dark, the whole bus had to duck for each telephone wire so no one got decapitated! Yikes.

Amber said...

You are a very brave girl!

(I'm pretty sure I would have been "carsick" all over the place within the first 30 seconds... Not to mention the anxiety attacks from being in that tiny contraption between all those big buses!)

Thanks for sharing the ride!

That was hilarious and I cannot even imagine! I just caught up on your last two posts and was so blessed that you had an uplifting day. I've been praying that you would be encouraged and find an extra helping of joy.

Still praying.

The ride of your life, isn't it?

How we take the comfort of our own vehicles for granted. I come from a country where public transportation is huge ... that's what you use most of the time to go to work and to get to places ... and let me tell you now I live in a place where public transportation is unheard of ... wow ... big change!

Keep bringing us news .. pictures but most importantly your thoughts.

Looking forward to see the rest.

I have been enjoying your updates...how amazing to see God's people in action! I especially enjoyed your story about Mohit...being like another mother to him is very special! :) Also, Todd's twittering is hysterical! I bet you got a laugh seeing him doing the stain-fight! LOL!
Praying for you (and your family!).
hugs,
